Things Not To Feed Pet Birds

Each  litigious parrot owner should know what ever not to feed pet birds. There are some foods which may kill a parrot immediately. But, except the foods mentioned below, you can feed your pet birds everything you eat within limits mentioned in this article and moreover a pellet-based or seed-based diet. It will guarantee they live long and are strong. Chocolate may kill not only parrots, but also dogs and cats has been died because of  eating chocolate. As, a body weight of parrot is too small, just a little can bring to death.

Avocado may also be harmful and not ever to feed pet birds. The avocado meat which is near the seed has been caused a death of pet birds and hence it’s only a good practice to avoid this food to your birds. If you give them many good fruits, they would not miss avocado. Guacamole is also included in avocado.

Seeds of a fresh fruits should strictly be avoided in pet bird’s food dish. Remove seed from oranges, apple, grapes and all other fruits otherwise your bird will crack the seed and will eat parts of it. Particular part of these seeds contain noxious substances.

Remember that, do not allow a parrot get its beak on any raw meat or egg product. There is a great chance of bacteria attack to the parrot. As well on the top of the list of what ever not to feed pet birds is any food appearing to be spoiled. If you can’t eat it, never offer it to your parrot!

Foods which are high in fat must be limited. Seeds of sunflower are high in fat so they should not become the basis of the diet of the birds, however a small amount of Sunflower seeds are okay. Whichever food that is used to spread with butter, is cooked in oil or if not high in fat should be strictly restricted.

Also a salty food should be prohibited.  There is enough salt in the foods the parrot eats to fulfill the nutritional supplies and extra is unhealthy for humans and birds also.

What ever not to feed pet birds involves the fact which just small amounts of sugar may be allowed. Parrots may a lot become  junk food junkies and would like cookies and cake. Do not allow them to eat except bite or two once in a while.

Really, if you feed your parrot a neutral diet of good fresh fruits or vegetables, human foods, and its basic pellet or seed diet, your parrot may live long and strong.
