Basics of Taking Care of Cats……

Before adopting a cat one must be aware that there is a big commitment to come ahead. Cats just don’t mean that they can walk in and out of your house any time. Cats require very tender and delicate care and if your cat grows into the habit of strolling outdoors way too much, then you have to take necessary precautions. It is good to understand whether your life is stable enough to make the necessary arrangement for bringing in a cat. Responsible pet ownership is a must and you should tread on this extremely carefully. If you do not plan in advance then you could end up in a really stuck up situation where you are not free to arrange your life accordingly and to involve your pet’s care in it.

When you adopt a cat and your cat grows old enough for breeding time then it is good to consider with your doctor about the specific means of splaying or neutering. Every country is overloaded with uncared for cats. If you want more pets, you can always adopt some instead of adding to the huge number of uncared for cats. But if you are really willing to have one litter of which you are sure to be able to handle, then you can go for it. But remember that more than one or two pregnancy is not a good thing to be done. So one or at the most two pregnancies, in a lifetime is enough. Don’t fall into the trap of breeders and ruin your pet cat’s health. Whether it is a male or a female do neuter or splay your feline accordingly. This is indeed one of the most important decisions that you can take. Neutering or splaying also ensures greater health and a stronger immunity system. So whenever you are sure that you do not want any more kittens you should be able to have them operated. Ideally for any cats, the operation can be done after the first one and half years. This way the cat’s health is restored and no unnecessary pregnancy is carried out. Again if you have to have a litter, you should operate the mother only after she has healed post six months from the pregnancy. This is a must.

You will enjoy immense freedom with such ownership and your cat’s health will always be at prime when you give the adequate care and attention that it deserves.
